Our weekend was so productive!!

After pouring the concrete into our piers (first week of January) Dan got to work making and installing our beams.

We anchored those down and immediately ordered the I-joists which go perpendicular to the beams and act as supports for the ply wood.

We installed those yesterday, a Saturday, and today we finished the hurricane ties AND got to the plywood! So we can finally walk on the surface of our soon to be Aframe!

While Dan was installing the joists I took the tractor and filled half the understory with gravel over plastic tarp we laid down. We left one side bare still because we’ll need to trench in a sewage line for the septic.

It totally already feels like a house!!

The back half of the house which you can’t quite see in these pictures will be a deck so that portion gets different, slightly shorter, joists and then we can install decking. Next up is ordering the lumber so we can build and erect the A’s! Can’t believe we’re here already! These may take a week or so to acquire so we’ve left ourselves the deck to work on in our downtime.
